Sores or lesions on the male genitalia are often associated with
sexually transmitted diseases (STD's). These ulcers on the
genitals are contagious and can be transmitted through sexual contact. Similar
leisions may be present on other parts of the body like the mouth and throat.

- Avoid self treatment before seeing a physician. It can mask symptoms
and make diagnosis more difficult.
- Refrain from sexual contact until you undergo medical evaluation.
- Consult your physician if there are any unexplained genital lesions or
if new lesions appear on other parts of your body.
- Treatment will depend on the underlying cause and may include antiviral
medicines, antibiotics or other agents.
- Use a condom until the leisions heal completely
